Built
for the noble purpose of introducing the
beauty of art to the poverty-stricken locals
the South London Gallery has become one
of the capital's major independent art space.
Housed in its original Victorian building
which is often at odds to the challenging
contemporary work on show. An excellent
exhibitions policy combines group shows
with well-known international artists as
well as 'break-through' shows including
one each year curated by Goldsmiths College
students. A must-see gallery on London's
exhibition trail - memorable recent shows
include 'Minky-Manky', one of the best young
British art shows.
