One
of London's less brash contemporary art
dealers, Jane Hamlyn's space in the heart
of Soho is much respected within the British
art world. The gallery's artists tend to
be thoughtful and intelligent, such as Tacita
Dean, Cornelia Parker, Callum Innes and
Craigie Horsfield. Gallery artists have
been shortlisted for the Turner Prize in
1989, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998 - a truly
impressive record. And the gallery itself
is located in a quirky old townhouse complete
with rickety steps. A refreshing change
from the rest of the London art scene.
