Anthony d'Offay
Was arguably London's most important dealer of international contemporary art, until he decided to close down in Sep 2001.
His stable read like a roll-call of the most famous modern and contemporary artists - Warhol, Koons, de Kooning, Kiefer for starters. Also represented Rachel Whiteread, the most critically acclaimed of the group of British artists to shoot to acclaim in the 1990s. D'Offay famously poached Whiteread from yBa dealer Karsten Schubert causing Schubert to close his operation down. D'Offays also flirted with emerging artists, recently showing London slack-art painter Martin Maloney and ex pop video maker Chris Cunningham.
