| Miro
is one of the veterans of the BritArt scene,
and dealer to such artists as Chris Ofili
(Turner prize-winner 1998)Peter Doig, the
German artist Andreas Gursky, |

Thomas Demand, and American video artist
and photographer Doug Aitkin. Her Cork Street
Gallery opened in 1985, and was the first
to showcase Ofili's infamous elephant dung
paintings. Not only does Miro have a talent
for spotting good young artists but she
has also been on the forefront when it comes
to architecture. The minimalist supremo
Claudio Silvestrin designed her first gallery,
and her new space is truly impressive; an
enormous 10,000 square foot space on the
edges of Shoreditch - an area rapidly becoming
the centre of London's artworld. The building
is worth a visit alone and the shows inside
have so far matched it for quality.
